You can never go wrong with mac and cheese. And what’s not to love about a super simple 5 ingredient mac and cheese dish?! It’s so easy and can be thrown together in under 20 minutes. I love simple and easy meals. Our lives are hectic enough and quick dishes like this one make it just a little bit easier, especially on the week days.
This healthy 5 ingredient mac and cheese cuts down on the saturated fat as much as possible without leaving it taste like cardboard. I whip this dish up frequently to have a couple of days worth of lunches packed and ready to go. It’s as simple as boiling and draining the pasta, dumping the milk, butter and cheese and then covering it letting it simmer. Don’t forget to stir it occasionally.
Pasta. Milk. Butter. Cheese. Well, two types of cheese. That’s it! Simple right? It’s still delicious, even for a healthier alternative. So let’s get to it!
- 1/2 lb Pasta
- 1/2 tbsp Butter
- 3/4 cup Non-fat Milk
- 1/3 cup Sharp Cheddar Cheese
- 1/4 cup Cooper Cheese
1. Boil Pasta to al dente (about 6 minutes) and drain.
2. Add milk, butter and cheese.
3. Cook covered on low for about 5 minutes. Stirring occasionally until the pasta is well coated with the cheese mixture.
*If the mixture is too runny, let it stand for a few minutes and it will thicken up.
Easy right? This is a great side dish or lunch meal. You can always double the batch to get more servings. This is as simple as mac and cheese gets. Let me know what you think!
